…Gazing  out of the windows of the fifth-floor lunch room at the Winooski River rushing by far below, Tarrant sings the praises of the town, and the historic building he has just bought. The former mill, with its soaring ceilings, round wooden support columns and massive overhead beams, is just the sort of “anchor space” to attract young programmers.

“The thing that’s great for us is for the people we try to recruit, this is where these kids want to work,” Tarrant said. “It’s just a fantastic workspace.”

The surrounding city isn’t bad either, according to Tarrant.

“This area and what the city of Winooski has done for the town is conducive for the type of employees we want,” Tarrant said. “It’s sort of an urban environment with restaurants and housing in the area. Burlington is right across the river. We have a number of employees who live right in the neighborhood and walk to work. And it’s on a bus line. A lot of things work well for the employees base we’re trying to attract.”
